Every registered domain has at least two Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain name to the servers of a certain web hosting provider. That way, you have got both your site and your e-mails managed by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, like A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one shows which server deals with the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, whenever you enter a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of a different company in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means you can have your site and your e-mails with 2 different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Web Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with each and every Linux web hosting which we offer, allows you to see, change and set up A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to view a list of all hosts in the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update won't take you more than a few mouse clicks. Creating new records is as simple if, for instance, you would like to use the e-mail services of another provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. You can also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Put simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Through our state-of-the-art tool, you'll be able to control the records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily even when you have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will enable you to see the A and MX records for every one of the domains or subdomains in your account and if needed, to update any of them or set up new ones. Managing these records is quite easy as all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a few more clicks and if you experience any troubles, you can check out our educational videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by people with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to offer you total control over all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your e-mails to a different service provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
