SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, which is is intended to validate whether an email message is sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a given domain will prevent the faking of email addresses made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this function for a domain creates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP of the servers which are allowed to send e-mails from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When some e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks whether it originates from an official server. If it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but if it does not originate from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. In this way nobody can mask an email address to make it appear as if you're sending spam. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be enabled for any domain hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The option can be found in the Emails section of our innovative Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to activate it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down menu and type in the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be permitted to send messages from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only when it includes our MX records, in other words if our servers manage the emails for it, not some third-party provider. This solution offers you the highest standard of security, but it's not applicable if only your site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are handled somewhere else. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses secure from being used for spam or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The SPF protection function is available with all the semi-dedicated servers, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you're able to activate the service with ease for all of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really user-friendly interface, so you do not need to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your emails. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you've chosen. As an additional option, we will also give you the ability to limit the outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes even further by permitting email messages to be sent only if the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of by us and not by some other company. By doing this you'll get even superior control and there will not be any chances for someone to counterfeit your emails for malicious intentions.
